Never thought this would happen.
Over the past year I have been piecing quilt tops using both my 301A and 401A and really loving every moment.Last night my son needed his work pants patched so,rather than change feet and thread,I took the cover off my Brother Quattro thinking I would give it a bit of a run.OMG..I absolutely hated using it so I have decided to sell it and just use my old mechanical machines.I have a Janome 350E if I need to do embroidery.

Ha ha. So happy to read that. I had to use my GFs 1980s Janome a few times for doing cuffs (I'd given my Stylist 498 away). A novelty for sure, but couldn't wait to get back to my 319. Now I have a treadled 66 (as well) and only use the 319 when absolutely necessary. Could it be that the older machines have absorbed personality from their years of use? Maybe it could be the computer between the you and the machine.
They certainly attach to us, don't they?

Don't rush to sell your newer machine. i was once enthralled with old machines, too, but eventually went back to modern ones. It's true that some new ones are plastic junk, but a good Janome can be a joy to use.

I have kept my older machines for heavy work. I love my electronic machines and use each for different types of sewing. They all have their own quirks and it's just finding out which works best for what.
