Caroline,

Which one of the four questions you asked is the big question?

Yes, I gave it a spin this morning. While it sews and everything turns just fine I can tell it needs oiling. The wiring looks okay but I'm getting a little 'tingle' when I touch the machine so I want to check that out. Overall I'm still over-the-moon with her. No, she doesn't have a name yet - we have to bond a little more before I name her.

Donna,

Let me see if I can get my scanner cooperating with me this afternoon. If so, I'll scan the book for you.

Yes, the foot pedal is shaped like the sole of a foot. I've got a really, really interesting foot pedal from one of my Singer's too. I'll post a different thread about my antique foot pedals later today also.

Here's a couple of examples of what the stitch looks like:

The above photo shows what it looks like from the top - not much different that a lockstitch machine.

The is what the stitch looks like on the bottom of the same stitched row. Now you can see the chain stitch style.

Shari,

Any 'tingle' means a short. You are being electrocuted. Please check that wiring out and repair or replace before using it any more.

Yup, I know that. No more sample stitches until I find the problem. At least I know it does sew nice.

The BIG question was the wiring. Now you know why.

Congrats on your find. I got mine at a resale store. She was sitting by the door on the floor and I just couldn't resist. Had to have my son show me how to get her out of the case. And for $40 that did the deal. Had a friend's dad rewire and clean her up and he only charged me $25. Sews like a dream. I named her Abby. Guess why. LOL I haven't had a chance to "play' with her yet. Daughter moved in and Abby kinda got pushed into a corner. One of these days, she will go on display with my other machines. Have fun with yours.

like Charlee, paint me green with envy.....though being a lockstitch machine, can she really be used for piecing, or just garment making?
