1891 Singer Model ?

When I went to pick up a Kohler sewing machine today there was also an old Singer there that was calling my name. It is in really rough shape and probably cannot be restored but I couldn't just leave it there, now could I? :) The serial number, 10,002,165, indicates it was made in 1891. I'm not having any luck with identifying the model. Here are a couple of photos. There is an empty mount where the bobbin winder used to be. The bobbin case is also missing :(

oh, that machine is SO not beyond hope... It actually looks to be in remarkably GOOD shape for the type/age.
It would be a fun project... and a sweat machine when done...

I have to agree with SteveH, it would be a beautiful machine cleaned up.

I guess my first project, after I identify it, is to find out if I can still get the missing parts.

Wow! That's it, QuiltnCowgirl. Wish I had that treadle base for it. The whole bobbin assembly (or whatever it is called) is missing as well as the bobbin winder. Anyone know where I could get these? (see photos)

The only person I knew of isn't on the Quilting Board any more. I hope someone has ideas for you, though, as it would be a nice accomplishment to get yours prettied back up & running. For a cabinet, you might keep you eye open for one on Craigslist. Sometimes there is a cabinet that needs refinishing.

Here's a pic of my cabinet with the coffin top on. I really stumbled on a great deal when I found this on CL. The seller was the now elderly granddaughter of the original owner. She even had the original sale receipt in one of the drawers. Her husband is a woodworker and he kept the cabinet oiled and cared for all the years his wife, the granddaughter, had owned it.

just an example of the parts around.

(I am NOT recommending that you get these... just showing what is out there)

Someone on here will probably have everything you need and not want it themselves...

SteveH - I saw a few of these items on ebay. What scares me is this. I have no idea what all I need. For example you listed the shuttle pitman arm. I didn't even know about that. I assumed there would be some sort of complete assembly that would go on the bolt shown in the above photo. Oh, how I wish I could find a good repair person in the Salt Lake City area. I've talked to a couple but they seem to only work on the modern ones and give me a shrug and say something like, "Well, I'll give it a try". Not very encouraging.

That is an awesome machine. I am sure it is just wanting to sew again. Love it.
