I have the same machine but have to clean the case. what did you use to clean yours up? mine did come with the clamp

Kitty, I didn't know they made toy machines with blades! My Betsy Ross looks a lot like Steve's Hamilton Ross. I use it for real sewing sometimes. The chain stitch stretches so it's good for knits. But I need to get a clamp for it because I have to hold it down while I turn the crank. I probably could have fiddled with the tension a bit here.

Are the threaded holes on the underside meant for attaching a base?
 
It's been a while since I bought the Betsy Ross and cleaned it up, and I forgot about those threaded holes in the bottom. I don't think this machine originally came with a clamp -- it was not mentioned in the instructions I have. Are those threaded holes for attaching a base? This would help to keep the machine stable. As it is I have to hold the machine down with my left hand and guide the fabric with my pinkie. Am I crazy for wanting to sew with a toy?

The C-clamp is for clamping the machine to a table or other surfaces.
