Sewmor Mdl 404

I just got my newest acquisition yesterday. A Sewmor 404 machine.

It's a Japanese made machine that has a few differences from the average HA-1 machine.
It's mostly a copy of the Singer 66, but has the round Mdl 15 stitch control. There are other design features that are more late 50s Singer than anything else, like the bobbin winder and the little "S" shape winder tension.
There is no feed dog control on this machine.

What I'm looking for now is information about it. Does anyone have any links or info they'd share about the Sewmor machines?

I don't have any pics yet. And I'll have to hit up my local SMG for a case. The case this one was in disintegrated in transit. It was in pretty bad shape when I bought it, but the rigors of travel finished it off.

lots of information and pics on here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t164361.html feel free to add the picture of yours on there as well. A Singer 15 manual will work - I'm thinking there is a repair manual as well http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...uals/15-91.pdf

Where do you find all of your machiens/ You seem to have some interesting ones. what is an "average HA 1 machine? I ask because I know a lot of people in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio and they aren't able to find machiens harldy at all. I lived in Indy once years ago. In fact a friend from Ohio is coming to visit at the end of this month and she is looking ofr a machien. I just thougt they were in short supply back there

We've found a couple locally, but a lot of them have come from Goodwill on line auctions. We try to get them as cheaply as we can cos the shipping is sometimes steep.

Oh, an average HA-1 machine would be like my HOTHER or EDISON or any of those in the "Will The REAL 15 clone please stand up" thread. They look like the old Singers. The square ones from Japan are not HA-1 clones but they are great machines too.

I have a Sewmor 606, at least that is what the badge says. I have not seen another one that looks like her. Does yours look like mine?

Caroline, Beautiful Sewmor!! You can treadle that machine too- if you want to that is!!
You have that machine so nice and shiny. I love the look of the last photo of you taking a picture of the machine.

Thanks. She actually came nice and shiney. That is what attracted me to her when I was visiting Goodwill. She cost me all of $17.00 plus tax. Just needed a little polishing. Sews nicely also.

Caroline,

No mine looks like a Singer 66 with the modern numbered top tension and a Mdl 15 type round stitch adjusting system.

The only pic of it I have right now is over on the "Will the REAL 15 Clone please stand up" thread.
Right now I've got it all apart, well not totally, but all the plates and externals are off for a cleaning and lubing. It was dry dry dry inside. Clean but dry.
It had the wrong needle in it. A BOYE 40-60 what ever that is. Much shorter than the 15x1 that should have been in it.

As soon as I get it back together I'll take some better pics.

Do you have the owners manual for yours? I don't. I know where to get one though.
