stupid stylist - stupid lara?

okay, this is just ridiculous! Now, I cannot seem to get the bobbin seated properly . . . the little lever at the upper left keeps grabbing the thread. I know I moved those to take them out the very first time, and I have had them in and out successfully a lot!!

and now, I just can't get them to 'sew'.

here is the 410 . .
what am I doing wrong now?! urgh

From what I see, the bobbin case is not properly seated on the hook. It looks to be tilted down at the slide plate end.
The bobbin itself can only drop in. That's OK.

Is that lint I see just in front of the bobbin area? Maybe there is lint under the bobbin area. Your bobbin doesn't look like it is in the case correctly.

Alright . . I will go back to the drawing board tomorrow! Got so discouraged today, i quit trying to get it going. Trying to figure out a backing, too. too much 'argh' stuff in one day!

thanks yall. =))

Lara, this pic is from a Slant-O-Matic, but the principle is the same.

your bobbin case will have a "Groove" that matches up to the "tongue" on the hook.

And you're not stupid! It's a non-intuitive design. Once you've done it once, it's a snap, but if you haven't done it before it's awful to learn without a guide.

Hey watch it there with that title! LOL! :D
You're not a stupid Lara.... You're smart to ask when things get confusing.

Lara122 03-24-2013 04:13 PM

Tammi, your link is 'loading'! I am so excited to see it! thank you! and Buzzin, are you a Lara (no u) also?! ;0)) I do seem to confuse easily lately! lol

BuzzinBumble 03-24-2013 04:24 PM

:D Yup! i'm a Lara too. That's why I thought your title was so funny. My parents read the book "Dr. Zhivago" right before I was born. How about you? Young Laras might have gotten their name from the Lara Croft video games.

Good luck with your stylist!

Lara, I am a Dr. Zhivago Lara too!! My mom and my dad wrote the lyrics to lara's theme back and forth while he was in the navy. but do you know, I have never seen that movie?! lol

BuzzinBumble 04-08-2013 04:57 AM

How romantic your parents were Lara!
I've never seen the movie or read the book either. Perhaps we should put that in our bucket lists?
