yeah it came with the wrong bobbin. And people get rid of machines because they don't know what is wrong with them... I think it is real easy - the class 66 bobbins go in drop in and the class 15 go in cases. I don't know why the roller foot. I might have dropped the dogs when I was cleaning it, Joe. It runs good now. Not a horrid machine. Not even well used.

Miriam, Is that the Kenmore that only runs in reverse?

Grant,

This is a different machine. The one that only goes in reverse is one of the models with the reverse button in the middle of the stitch length knob.

Thank you Joe for clearing that up. It didn't look like the right model. Can anyone tell me where the serial number is on a Touch and Sew?

Grant,

The serial number on a T&S is under the lip of the bed on the left end I believe.

I did not find it there, or anywhere. :(

no it is not. I should go get some pictures. No DGKs today... LOL

Well, my T&S 778 is on the underside of the lip of the bed. I had to remove the plastic cover to see it, but that's were is is.
It's in the same place on all of the machines we have that were made since they went to the squarish style.

Thank you Joe. I was looking for a metal plate.

I got a free Necchi, from the late 60s and the lady said it didn't work very well. The bobbin was a class 66 and it had miles of thread wrapped around the inside of the hand wheel; also lots of thread wrapped around the bobbin hook, there was so much lint under the needle plate that the feed dogs didn't move very well.
Once I freed it from its thread prison, put the correct bobbin in and oiled it. The machine took off like a race horse.
It now belongs to my daughter's friend, he was so happy to have a machine that didn't come from WM and not sew very well.
