This machine was the one that replaced Momma's FW. You really do have to have all the dials and knobs in the perfect place for those cams to work correctly. The designs can get longer. I remember long rows of ducks on the seam of a gown made for my niece. They were good sized too. I think there is still more that needs loosening.

That machine is still available but buried under boxes of estate stuff are the things you need. If I can get to the instruction booklets, I'll scan copies to you. How many boxes of cams did you get?

Miriam, reread your post. You mean making the designs taller!! That's limited by the width of the needle travel. Goofy me, not understanding. This flu bug really has my head in the clouds.

You can not set the stitch width. It has to go at 0 - There is a knob you turn and you get a longer pattern. It doesn't do ducks. I got 30 cams & some feet - I do have a manual - it must be written in Greek. These are orange disks. I haven't seen any ducks.

Mine is just enough different from yours that I guess I'm not much help. The orange cams are identified as "Basic Decorative Designs", (no reversing) Set the special switch selector to CAM, stitch width 1 to4, stitch length=Red Zone, Special Stitch Modifier- Red Dot, satin stitch foot, and zigzag hole on needle plate
The "Reverse Stitch Design" cams are set at CAM, Stitch Width 1 to 4, Stitch Length at 6, (although they will work at smaller numbers, they just overlap) and the Special Stitch Modifier is at Middle Position between S and L. That part is critical, and if something is gummed up, there is where it showed up on mine. The fish is cam #30,"duck-ish" is cam 32, "pine-tree-ish is cam 34, and "chicken-ish" is cam 44. Cam 45 is a Rorshach test, being either and angel fish, an arrow head, or a jet figher? Probably not helping you much. At least you have a manual, can you imagine how much of a challenge it would be without one!

The double orange cams I have DO go in reverse. It is a challenge WITH the manual. It does not have any of the utility cams though.

i bet its a beauty all cleaned up. a dealer will grab it, clean it and post it for $500. then we'll look at it.

Yes those can reverse, but they backstitch over the fwd stitches. The other cams do actually run the feed dogs backwards in order to make those parts of the pattern that can't be made any other way.

I may be late here as I am a new member but a big congrats to your daughter more so to you as you raised a good kid. My only daughter and only 1 is a senior now at UC Berkeley and wanted to take up Law after graduation but lately is having a change of heart. I felt disheartened but what can we do. All we can do is support them. I just hope her path leads her to Law school later on. Again Congrats, Steve. That is such an awesome feeling.
