This is a Singer 15BG168 with the RAF decals. First, photo was taken after some cleaning. Second photo was just taken. Check out all that dust! Okay, I'm not into dusting my treasures very often.

I forgot to mention that on the Singer 15BG168, I have a bobbin winder from my Singer 15-90, different decals. It is seen in the second photo. I switched the bobbin winders since this machines winder works much better than the older Singer 15s winder and the older machine stitches much nicer than this one. I use the older Singer 15 for my free motion quilting. One day I will take the time to get this one to stitch just as nicely as that older Singer 15.

The latest addition to my addiction.
Singer 40k Hand Crank Child's Chain-stitch machine with original case. ..an ebay find @ $16.25 plus $10.80 S&H (I was amazed that it sold for so little.) It should arrive in about a week! I'm hoping that my DD4 will be able to learn on this machine. The modern plastic one I bought her at Joann's was junk. My plan of teaching her on Great-Grandmonther's model 15 is still out there for when she's a bit older. Now... I just have to find 24x3 size 11 needles. Purchased this Singer Treadle from friend months before I could pick it up. Only saw photo so didn't realize the whole cabinet had been painted. I refinished cabinet & cleaned machiine but not really using it yet. New belt had to be adjusted.Hard to wind the one bobbin . Cabinet and machine were well used but the price was right and I found room for it.
Singer 128 Serial#G4169383 Born March 30, 1910 (I think) Such trouble with photo's |
Looks just like the one I got last week!!! When I looked up the serial numbers, I found 1910 as well.........
Great job redoing the cabinet. Mine is in a portable case (not original) |

Pics of the "Century" treadle I'm picking up tomorrow. Paid $50 for her. Have been researching the "Century" brand and know that she was made by Davis. Don't know much else right now.
I do need some shuttle bobbins for her if anyone has any for sell. I'm so excited!! |

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Vintage Machine Riddle. Congratulations to Vintagemotif, who spotted that it has the Indian Star decals, and was therefore able to solve the riddle.
This machine is a 1934 Singer 128K, with the Indian Star variation of La Vencedora decals, which means that it was manufactured for export to India. In each point of the star the word Singer was written in a different Indian script. I have checked this out on the Needlebar website, which lists the eight different languages as Hindi, Onya, Singhalese, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. Don't ask me which is which. This is the second Indian Star machine to appear on this thread. The Sphinx machine belonging to Kathie on page 8 has the star also. This machine is my latest Youtube star. I have used it for the latest video - How to Adjust the Tension on a Vintage Long Bobbin Sewing Machine - on the Muvandfarve channel. We filmed the first test of the stitch ( a hold-your-breath moment) and it performed beautifully! I'm already in love with this machine. We don't tend to get Singers with red decals here - Red Eyes are American - and the Indian Star makes it extra special. |
