Great score!

I don't run across deals like that either. If they are priced remotely low there is usually a reason. I have had to really work to get some of those to work and at a much steeper price - then when I do try to sell one it sets on CL for ever.

Maybe it's a guy thing or just one of my personality quirks, but I've gotten the best deals sometimes by buying derelicts and rebuilding them. For instance the 500A we recently got and I did a thread on, cost us about $5.00. We put around $35.00 worth of parts in it and a lot of cleaning, adjusting and time. But it sews good. I've still got a bug or two to work out, but nothing major.
We just saw one on GW go for the high $60.00s which didn't include shipping. All told ours won't cost near that much. Occasionally a true bargain falls in your lap. Like the Kenmore cabinet machine we got for $00.00, just go pick it up. Nice, nice, machine. A little oil, a little cleaning, and she sews. I love it when the bargains fall in my lap. Joe |
