There is a green/aqua one sitting at my local thrift shop since a few months. It need rewiring. I was tempted, but the idea of having to get another kind of needle (I have already ones for my Singer serger, my coverstitch machine, my embroidery machine...) was a turn off for me. In addition, aren't they loud?

Most everything I see says 1950's. One site said that the 206 came out in 1938 in Germany, but wasn't introduced in America until the 50's.

I have two of the 319W (black) with discs in cabinets. Neat machines but I cannot find the correct needles. Does anyone no a source to purchase them?

I believe the Singer 206 was the first zig zag machine.

The 206 is a very neat machine. Don't let the needles stop anybody from using one of them a 306 or a 319 - just buy 100 needles at a time - google search forever!

That said - my sister and I buy 100 needles and split up the order. She ordered some sewing machine needles from Av*****h Su*****s from EBAY. They called and said they didn't have the size she ordered. Would she want some size 16s? It was a good price so we said yes. One needle shaft was deformed and would not go in the machine. We tried several different machines. Some of the needles shred the thread, some skip stitches and some broke thread. we can't return the needles because they only had a 5 or 10 day return policy. Beware of cheap needles - they may have bad quality control. The other thing would be to open the packs and look at the needles. Are the eyes smooth and straight? Are the shanks straight? Do you see any burrs? We will not be ordering from that place ever again. We have never had trouble with Organ needles before. It maybe that we will order Schmetz even though they are a lot more money. This wasn't just one needle in a pack this was 100 needles. Buyer beware.

I didn't know anyone else manufactured them. I've always used Schmetz and they've been 100% perfect. Not expensive either. I imagine that any needles made in India, China etc would be a waste of money regardless of how cheap (even if they were free - crappy needles can really screw up your fabric).

We have had them before from other places and the needles were fine. These are exceptionally BAD every single one of them.
