Default quarter in foot for 201 Singer

Is there a foot that will give an accurate 1/4 inch sewing guide.

Thanks.

Good question. I don't know for sure. I have an aftermarket one that works great on some Singers, but gives a wider seam than wanted on others.

It's the kind with the little metal guide on the side.

The problem with it is the fit of the foot on the presser foot shaft. Singers are not always the same as other brands.

I have a vintage one for my FW (without guide) and it works great. Got a box full of feet/attachments for it for $5.00. Can't go wrong with that deal!

Why not use the seam guide that screws into the machine bed? It can be set to any distance up to about 1 1/2". There have been a lot of different widths made over the last 120 years and they're all very common.

This seems ( :-) ) too obvious an answer though: Is there some reason the seam guide doesn't work for quilting?

Someone else suggested the seam guide... I think I have one... I will check it out. Thanks

sdeaaz,

There are many designs of bed mounted, magnetic, sticky on seam guides. I prefer the bed mounted (screw on) to the others. I use a ruler and adjust my guides from the needle that way I can get a repeatable seam even if I switch from one machine to another.

Here's a site I found just recently that has several different ones:

And more here:
