Default Refinishing my $12.50 Singer 28

Thought I would show some pictures of my new project. I bought two singers for $25. One wax a 28 the other a 128. I decided to re-paint. So far I've spent around $40 in supplies, but I should have enought to refinish both. Now I have to figure out how to get the paint of the balance wheel. As well what would work best to clean up the shiny parts.

Oh neat! I will be watching for more photos. How are you repainting it? Any advice to someone who wants to do a repaint?

Not sure if I'm the one to offer advice, this is the first time refinishing a sewing machine! I've read through a few other posts and following others advice. I've refinished other furniture in the past, so just applying similar techniques. Just making sure I use rust proof and metal products.

Can't wait to see pictures of finished machine, that copper orange would be out of this work pretty.

I started a 99 too, so we'll have to compare outcomes. Did you strip off all the old paint or just sand it?

Well I am learning from a major mistake, after a week of rain I finally had a sunny day to put a second coat of primer. In a rush because the kids were running around I grabbed a can and sprayed. Paint stripper, not the primer! So. Have to strip and sand again and start all over!
