Default Sears Kenmore foot pedal compatibility?

Since I bought my Kenmore 158 18030, I am on the hunt for a replacement foot pedal. Apparently these are difficult to find and I wonder if another type would work as well.

I'm just not crazy about the way the wires were repaired, especially since the dog that bit me was guilty of chewing them to begin with!

It's a 3 pronged plug, but the cord itself has 5 slots. I've tried searching, but the 6814 YDK is pretty elusive.

Anyone know the answer, since this is my first experience with a vintage machine?

Thanks,

Renate

Rewire the cord you have, then you won't have to buy a replacement. It's not hard to do if you put the wires back on the same way they came off.

I believe that any of the 3-prong White/Kenmore foot pedals will work.

Here is one that I found when looking for the same type of foot pedal for both a Kenmore 65, and a White Rotary.

I've never done that before. Knowing my luck I'll cross the wires!

Lol what i did was the moment i took the cover off i took a photo and marked the wire that had 2 attached (youll see) then just copied what they had done. Http://mysewingmachineobsession.blog...nd-female.html

:-) the foot pedal is pretty easy too. Dad told me most often the cord with the stripes is the hot. And that the larger prong is the negative.

Have you talked with your local repairman ? I got one from my repairman for my 158-1800. Also ebay is a good place to find replacements. I don't know of interchangeable cords.

Sew-Classic sells White/Kenmore three spade cord sets. They also sell the set that uses the three prongs.

If you have the connector block with the screws it is simple to rewire them. Just put the new wires the same as the old wires.
