I have a Singer 201. I learned how to sew on that machine. It is a straight stitch and it never was broken. I have had it cleaned several times. After so many years I wore out a part. I love that machine. Mine is in a solid Cherry wood cabinet still looks great. The original 201's were in great cabinets. As for the price if the cabinet is solid wood I would think it was worth it. That is my opinion.

I have a 1932 201-3 in a treadle and 1954 201k in a cabinet (cast iron) and they both sew absolutely perfectly. DH doesn't understand why I need two of the same machine but then I just point to his tools and guitars and he shuts up :-D.

It will be the best $180 you've ever spent on a sewing machine; although I believe it could be had for less. I paid $75 for my 1949 201-2, which included the cabinet. I saw the most unique cabinet in an antique store in Wiliamsburg, Va (including a 201-2 in perfect condition) for $375 last summer and wish I'd bought it, too. The cabinet was designed to fit in a corner. Very clever!
