301's are great machines. If I could get another one for $99 in excellent condition, I would grab it. I have noticed their prices are climbing.

If it is in good condition, I'd say grab it. In this area (New England), that would be an excellent price. It's a wonderful machine.

I'm looking at a 301A in mint condition (looks like it from the pic anyway). It is selling for $250.
High but has all the attachments, case etc.
Will be worth it to me

Someone made the remark that vintage machines are hard to come by in Texas. RIGHT!!!!! I don't know what the natives did there to cause that shortage--when they moved away they took their sewing machines with them???? I guess that's right. I did. I lived in Austin for 15 years, and when we left there, all my sewing machines came with me. Oh well, I guess that answers my question.

A 301 for $99 would already be part of my collection here if I had some way of getting it to Tennessee--and I already have two 301s--a tan one and a black one--and absolutely love them for piecing, and for regular SS; that's all they do, they aren't ZZ. So quiet (if that is important to you) and smooth (if that is important to you) and with the slant needle foot, makes it easier to watch your work (if that is important to you). Did I say I love mine.....

I hope you bought it by now because I personally think it is a great price. If I had the opportunity to buy it, I wouldn't hesitate.

The prices are climbing and that's the reason I'll never be able to get one.

Got my 301-A mocha/ cream machine for $15 in the case at a second hand store in WY it had the bobbin and bobbin case but no foot. Lucky for me going through all my extra sewing things I found two slant feet that fit it. I knew as soon as I saw the case what it was. Love it and I didn't have to ajust a thing just downloaded a copy of manual from online.

Hand her a $50 bill, grab the machine, and run. That looks pristine.
