Singer 500 series
So I was in the Salvation Army and saw what I believe is a Singer 500 series without the top piece on it in a case. The mechanism would move although it seemed to hang a little. It was $3.99. Do you think it is worth getting and how easy would it be to get a replacement top piece?

Grab it! Unfortunately, the clips that hold the top on are hard to get so you're likely going to have to settle for a machine that's either topless or get a top that just sets on top for looks. It doesn't effect the ability to USE the machine at all, so that's the important thing. If you buy it in a table and put it down, out of the way, you'll never see it:>
