Oh those are beautiful machines in the pics, thanks for sharing them. The reason I only asked about Singer is because it's the only brand I know anything about. As for my own personal self, Singer is all I prefer to collect, but of course anyone can post what their favourite other brand is if they want to.

I notice on ads for Featherweights (obviously I don't know much about them) that some have a dash 1 or 2 after the 221 model number. Is there something to watch out for? I do think for my next find I'd hopefully like to find a nice red eye or I'd even like to find one with flowers. I think those are so pretty. I've got all the models with Sphinx decals I want right now (3) so I'm looking for models with different decals at this point.

All this info is really helpful thanks,
Judy

A good machine series to have and use and is light weight is the Kenmore, 6, 8, 10 or my favorite a 12. Not collectable and not sexy like a Singer Featherweight but good all around machines from the 1980s. I haven't seen a bad one so far. I can't figure out why those aren't kind of a hot machine to have. My sister uses a 12 on her Gracie quilter since she can unload and reload the bobbin very easily. I like mine because it has a decent variety of utility stitches.

I only have a few models which are 27/28, 127 and 99k's but I'd like to start a more serious collection and have been admiring the Featherweights and also the Red Eye decals (model 66 I believe - I may be wrong)
Just wondered what the consensus was about it, thanks.

Judy
1910 Redeye Treadle (date from Singer as I had to contact them to find out) Love to peddle away on Sylvia
1956 - 401A which I love. It was my mother. Gilda sews like a dream.
1967 - 600, I sew on Gracie a lot. Perfect stitches, no problems. She was a gift from my parent
415 Janome about 8 yrs old and not anywhere near the accurate machine the other 3 are.
Brother 1034D my kids got me for Christmas 2015. I'm still learning how to use her. Haven't named her yet.

They're all in one photo album here on the board.
