Default Spool thread holder

I have a singer 185k. This morning I broke off the plastic thread spindle level with the machine. How do I get it out?

Tap it on through. That's how I did the stump on our 185. I just made sure it fell all the way through before I used the machine again.

Otherwise, take a fine drill bit and just drill till it catches the stump, them remove.

I tried that first, just couldn't pull it back out no matter what I tried.

My 301 has the spool holder for the bobbin winder broken off. I don't know when that happened. I am the first owner of that machine, and don't remember breaking it. I have just ignored it so far, and put a spool on the floor when I need to wind a bobbin. I guide the thread with my hand to where it needs to go.

The spool pins (nylon) are available from Sew-Classic for less than $1 each! I broke one on my 328K after having it for more than 50 years! They're easy to replace.

I was successful in getting one out by taking a small drill and boring a hole in it. Then insert a small screw and use a pliers to pull both screw and stub of spool pin out of machine.
