An Elna SU in blue for $10?? They are still around $200 here. I have been looking for one for a friend who is missing hers terribly. I won't give mine up, of course. I have always wondered if it was the flat spot and a better repairman could have fixed it, though her machine never sat idle.

On the one I fixed, the growl came from the motor shaft, when I changed the angle of the rubber. but on this particular machine, you could move the motor shaft in and out of the motor with a 1/4" wiggle space. I don't know if you've got wiggle on your motor shaft, but that might be where it's coming from.
