You might try getting in touch with the guy on Craig's List for the Tulsa, OK area. I have no affiliation with him, but he always has several refurbished machines for sale and they look pretty decent in the pictures. Not sure about accessories for the machines, not have I ever went to BA to look at them. I believe he and his wife own a quilt store in Broken Arrow?? I contacted him about machine repair and spare parts. He doesn't work on machines for other people, but he has several. He may have a featherweight that he is working on or might consider selling.
Right now he is posting a Jones hand crank with carry case for $150 http://tulsa.craigslist.org/atq/3813700737.html
A 1920 Singer Model 66 Red Eye in cabinet for $150 http://tulsa.craigslist.org/atq/3801164303.html
A 1956 Singer Singer 301 with 221 bobbin, long bed and cabinet is $175
http://tulsa.craigslist.org/atq/3788863135.html
A 1960's blue Rotary badged zig zag no cabinet for $75 http://tulsa.craigslist.org/for/3791012061.html
A 1960's Singer Model 239 made in Italy, no cabinet for $80 http://tulsa.craigslist.org/art/3759084121.html
A 1950's Singer 403A Slant-O-Matic in case for $150 http://tulsa.craigslist.org/art/3809038947.html

As a Canadian I am sorry you had trouble . Still wonder what the full story is such as where is that machine now and was the seller legit. Trouble for me goes the other way USA to Canada so makes me leary to trust the sellers.
Seems you can find one anyway.
