That's a very handsome couple. I wonder what year it was taken. Late teens to early 20s?

that is pretty typical of 20's postcards. I have about 900 vintage images, and keep an eye on the market---this one is currently on the bay. I am not interested in it- do any of you want me to post any others?
I have bought in the past from this gentleman. http://stores.ebay.com/dutch-anton-p...&_sid=14658954
I wish I had basement for this machine. It sounds like it was well loved at one time since it was used to make costumes for the SFO Ballet Co. Whoever owns it now seems to have it all ready for someone else to be the new steward. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/for/3607284221.html
I have been looking for treadle irons. What do I look for when buying them? No rust, wheels that don't have flat spots. If it works, does it mean that all the parts are there? And, can it be easily taken apart to transport? What is a fair price?
Any tips, or advice would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

Judy, I am glad the machine is sitting in the house now! I bet with a little Liquid Gold on the cabinet and machine - it would shine up just fine!
Grant, I also have a 230 but I have never tried to sew leather with that machine. I use a Singer 31-20 for the really heavy stuff. Sorry I am not much help!
I would love to see a photo of the Tikka machine!

Anamaria, I just gave away two sets of treadle irons! I wish I had known you wanted some! Darn!

Darn! keep me in mind if you see a set of treadle irons, and let me know.
Thank you,

I sent this to SteveH but thought I would share it here too. I was going through one of the many random boxes of stuff from this estate today and in amongst some teacups I found this picture of a rather fancy Howe machine. Its probably from one of the issues in the 90s of the ISMACS digest I'm guessing but still thought it was a pretty cool version of the machine I hadn't seen before.

I saw one with beautiful mother of pearl decorations in a private collection in MA. Also at the Adirondack museum in NY there's one where the box cover unfolds to make a lovely large sewing surface. Originally co-purchased by 2 sisters. I believe photos are on the ADK Museum website if you do a search. There's one on EBay now also.
