They are just so darn cute! If you have a chance to see one in person, they look almost like a toy machine. They are light to take for clesses and really well made.

They are perfect in every way!!! lightweight, small, quality stitch, NOT plastic, dependable and CUTE

I like the portability part myself, great for classes. I think it is like keeping up with the Jones's....all my quilt friends had or wanted one so I just had to have one too as I am new to quilting

All of the above, but also the historical factor too. I love to think of someone using the machine and what she might have sewn. My FW is not pretty, but boy is she a workhorse.

obviously, they are cute. They are also NOT intimidating- especially since my 221 is hot pink! so whenever I have someone who says they can't sew because they are clumsy or scared, I plop mine down on the table and have them push the pedal. Next thing I know, I am usually giving lessons.
I am shocked by how many people are afraid of sewing machines- I have had them compared to dentists!

first about the featherweight: it is lightweight which is a necessity with age and back problems, it makes a beautiful straight stitch, and it is easy to maintain. It is ideal for retreats and get togethers, not heavy!!!! Easy to clean....
