Default Wow, that musta been some needle strike

It broke the throat plate in 4 places. And its unbelievable to me that, with all the accessory sets I have, I don't have another one!

Having looked and marvelled at this, let's hope I don't somehow manage to imitate it!!!

Would one from a touch and sew work? I've saved several from machines I've trashed.

Did this happen while you owned it or before?

While I owned it, believe it or not! I don't know if it was already cracked when I started using it or not. I find it suspicious that I have 4 of the straight stitch plates, but only one of these zig zag ones.

If they are #172200 they will. I have some of the ones for the 600 series that have an extra little thingy underneath, and I haven't tried one of those. (Too chicken, lol.) I took one of the single hole ones and used my Dremel to enlarge the hole. I was afraid to make it too wide, though, so I can only go up to size 4 (out of 5) on zigzag. It will go to 5 without a strike, I think, but I think its rubbing on the left hand side. Let's DM so we don't get on trouble.

Do you mean PM instead of DM?

Also the plate with extra little thingy underneath, I'm thinking is the chain stitch plate.

It seems like everyone always kept the ZZ plate on the the machine and never changed to SS. Yes, I probably have more SS plates, but fortunately the ZZ plates were on the machines.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.
