I usually use my stash and I do make scrappy quilts. But I will really watch the sales, especially for backings. I don't want the back to be boring for kids. I want it to be bright and cheerful. So when I find some on sale, it comes home with me for future kids quilts. Our guild makes "Child Delight" quilts for kids in the local foster care system. Every kid entering foster care in our county gets a quilt. It definitely keeps us busy! We also make "American Hero" quilts for wounded veterans. So I am always on the lookout for Red, White & Blue fabrics on sale.
