so you square up these little blocks before they go into a bigger block? Up till now Ive been putting them together and squaring up at the end. They are always too small BTW. I'm very new to quilting and sewing any advice will be helpful. thanks
I believe it was Eleanor Burns (the quilting goddess) who taught our Bee to cut oversized squares and when the HST was made, square it to the correct size. For instance, if you want a 3.5" HST, cut your two squares at 4", mark the diagonal line, sewing on either side of the line, cut, press and square to 3.5".The squaring up takes extra time, but ALL the HST fit together beautifully.
