I taped each screw and part to a piece of cardboard and labeled them so hopefully will be able to get everything back together. I do have a question...when I am cleaning with the kerosene, will it affect the decals on the machine of some should get on them.

Also, I saw a Brother treadle machine at the thrift shop yesterday. The # was A556547. I did a search for dating Brothers and got nowhere. They were asking $75....the belt was rotten and it was dusty and dirty but not in too bad a shape. Can you date it for me??
I like how you taped the screws and parts to the cardboard thats a great idea!!! I would try and to keep the kerosene off of the finish the best that I could (we know a little bit will get on there) but try and to wipe it off a soon as you can. Sometimes the shellac or varnish that they used for the clear coat will deteriorate and start crazing (little cracks) or wear off completely. so I would be careful as I could about getting it on the finish but it should not hurt anything.

It will look kinda cloudy if you get it on the finish after wiping it off but the GoJo will take it off and the polish will hide everything!!

Edit: Opps I forgot about the treadle.

I will have to do some research on the Brother but since you have the serial I am going to email my buddy in Australia and see what he has on it and I will get back with you on it!!!
