so you square up these little blocks before they go into a bigger block? Up till now Ive been putting them together and squaring up at the end. They are always too small BTW. I'm very new to quilting and sewing any advice will be helpful. thanks
Joe, please take the time to check your seams...if you are consistently ending up with blocks that are too small then you are consistently taking too big a seam or consistently initially cutting your pieces too small. Even a quarter inch foot is no guarantee...your needle may be set a bit to the left of the foot's measure. Pressing is also of great importance...even thread size can effect accuracy. I've learned the hard way on most of my own issues.....hope this helps you get the results you want. Happy stitchin' to ya! Oops....meant to add that you are to be applauded for being consistent....not everyone can get the same result everytime...and then it's even more difficult to correct and/or improve!
