I saw a quilt at a DR's office one time ... the lady had done what you did ... which was pretty cool, in my humble opinion, because the binding was bigger on the front and very attractive.

I make big bindings because I think they ought to be an important part of the quilt, too! <wave>
oh, and, if you use a decorative stitch to stitch it all down, don't forget that it will show on the back, so you might consider using thread in your bobbin that matches the back fabric. <wave>
