I usually sew my binding on the front of the quilt and turn to back. I machine stitch the binding down from the front. It is hard to always catch the underneath edge when stitching on the front.....the last couple finding I did, I sewed the binding on the back of the quilt, turned to the front and used a very narrow zig zag stitch to sew it down. Never ran off the edge one time. I used the same thread as I used for the quilting, and I think it is the best looking binding I've sewn on. Now, if I can remember to do that next time.
