I found this trick that by passes the auto shut off for most brand irons. Find an iron stand that is slanted, usually the tip of the iron will go at the high end. Turn the stand so the tip of the iron is going downward. The auto shut off won't engage. Most of the irons use a sensor to turn off the iron not a timer. I took apart a broken iron to see if I could tell why it started spitting. I learned a lot about an iron!
