I am in the same situation. We moved in October into an old house which we are refurbishing. My future sewing room is now the tv room until the living room is finished. So far, we have been working on the 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and my husband's office. Our living room has been the workshop, with the table saw, lumber, drywall, table of tools, etc. taking up all the space. My sewing machine is set up in the corner of the "tv room" and the rest of my books and fabric is in plastic tubs in the basement. I kept a few projects out, and have gradually brought stuff upstairs as I needed it and now my sewing machine is surrounded by tv trays piled high with various supplies, fabrics, and WIPs. The good news is that we are starting the living room this weekend!! Hopefully, it will be dry-walled, mudded, and painted in the next couple of weeks and then I can start on my new sewing room!! Yay!
