My cat, Chiyo, loves my purple bath robe to death. I wouldn't mind so much except that she likes to chew and "nurse" on it. So I want to make a simple, 36"x36" quilt for her to lay and chew on.

I have a couple of questions:

1. I can't think of the name of the fabric typically used in bathrobes (you know, that plushy, hotel towel sort of fabric). And I'm not exactly sure how to make this stuff into a quilt because of the nap it has and its thicker than your typical flannel or fleece (I can imagine sewing and pressing 1/4" seams could be a little difficult).

2. For those who have made quilts for their pets, can you offer any suggestions for making a quilt for a cat?
