I bought a huge cone of med gray thread, long staple cotton and I keep in a mug behind my machine and use it for all of my piecing. A lifetime supply of piecing thread for about $6.
Tons cheaper than Coats and Clark, and no more 30 mile one way trips to Walmart for neutral thread!
