can you pack your fabric in rubbermaid or sterlite plastic lidded containers and then put them into one of those plastic or wood outdoor sheds? you can get a lot in there, even the small gardening ones, and take out what you need a little at a time. if you get one big enough to share with your husband, it should make his life easier also. how high are the ceilings? shelves over the doorways are good.
over all the windows. keep other things there to make private space for your sewing things. as was said, raise all the furniture. under the baby's crib. throw out the pots and pans. hang closed cabinets all over every wall. this isn't a forever home, after all.
