The serial numbers on Singer's site show the date that the serial numbers were issued...going from the date (1800's) and knowing that they didn't have the technology that we did in later years to mass produce with great speed, add that to the number spread that your serial falls into, (the half million), and the placement of your number in that spread, I'm guessing that your machine wasn't actually made in 1884...but a year/few years later than that.

I see that I have a typo tho...as usual, my fingers got ahead of my brain and I meant to type 1890 and not 1880! :oops:
