We have several TVs and converter boxes. Comcast is such a ripoff, but the others are, too. We had AT&T internet, phone & cable, but now just internet. We tried to get Dish but would have to cut down a tree on the west side of the house (are they nuts??? it keeps the sun off that side in the PM!!!) Then we were all set for Direct TV when they ran their special, but when they were ready to install they told us about the additional charges because we didn't register online 24 hours before the install date. We both blew up! After talking to 4 or 5 people to get the bill straightened out, speaking to nobody who spoke clear English, (the accents were so strong I couldnt understand them) we finally said CANCEL.
When we first got boxes we got about 20 channels, locals and others. After a year or more, we get less and less channels, or they pixel out while we are watching so sometimes we just turn them off. The only tv that consistantly gives us lots of channels is the one in the loft in my sewing room. It belonged to our ex-son in law, and has to be 20years old! Pictures clear and we get 5 Ion channels, 5, sometimes 6 PBS, the 5 or 6 local broadcast affiliates and some we don't know which planet they come from.
like most of you, its background noise, but I get really mad when we are in the middle of a show and the channel just disappears, usually in the last 8 minutes!
I have written FCC several times but have not gotten an answer from them or the TV stations on how long before they make us totally dependent on being wired up & connected.
Hogwash!
