I'm fairly new to this board, but I love it. I have learned so much. Thank you all. This is actually my first time posting other than saying hello.
I am just now finishing my first quilt for QFK. After signing up at Downy I found one chapter in GA where I live so I emailed the coordinator and she sent me a kit also. If you go to the QFK site you can click on your state to see where you have chapters located. Mine is in SE GA, I'm in NW GA. but the quilts stay in your state. The woman in charge told me that if you have a hospital in your area that you can give quilts to by all means do it.They just ask that you take a picture of you and the recipient and mail it to them. She offered to send me extra labels if I decide to do that. There are other members of my group that live closer to me that donate to hospitals in Atlanta and the surrounding area, closer to where I live. If I choose to mail my quilts to them, they can donate along with others. Also Hospice.
There are several ways to get your quilts in your area without starting a chapter.
Just thought I would add my 2 cents in on the subject.
