I doubt that you would get any kind of credit.
I saw a show recently right after we had 2 major water main breaks and had to do the same as you. It also about the earthquake in Haiti! They showed little packets a little larger than sugar packets that you just dumped into a gallon of water and in half an hour the water was clean and ok to drink. The water they used was almost black! It was amazing. They were sending the packets to Haiti!
I wrote PUR asking about the packets as on the show they were saying they cost less than 50 cents a gallon. I thought it would be great to keep them on hand in case of emergencies. But I never heard a reply.
I think they should sell them here in the US but I guess they make more money on the systems.
