I have the cheaper Brother, and I just bought a 1961 Atlas that is spotless on eBay for $40. even with shipping it is cheaper than Walmart. Plus, it's all metal and mechanical and will run forever- no plastic parts to wear out or split.
I wish I had gone this route years ago. I too love my Juki, in part because it's mechanical and a workhorse. I'll use the Brother for spplique, cause it has a nice blanket stitch, but the Atlas will be my back-up.
