I haven't read much about guilds in this forum, but I'd like to tell you about mine. I joined last fall , they are a great group. We do "Quilts of Valor", for hospitalized veterans, personal quilts for hospice, and have made a group quilt for a raffle for a county comfort home. This month's meeting was a "swap". Bring any crafy items, quilting or otherwise, that you can part with. My big tote was filled , could hardly carry it to the car. An irish afghan, half finished. Fabric bundles, knitting and quilting magazines, etc. etc. Tables are all around the room, put your items down, put a little paper bag in front of each one to collect the raffle tickets people will deposit. Tickets are 20 for $1.00. Limited shopping time, so after you really look things over, time is almost up you just start throwing tickets in any bag to use up your tickets. Then they pick a ticket out of each bag, I think I was the only one putting so many tickets in, they kept clalling my numbers out like I was the only person there. The girl I rode with had to help me carry my stuff up to my house. 3 yrs of quilting magazines, pillow shams, a huge Christmas tree skirt, fabric bundles, unreal. Some good, some not-so-good, but it was fun. Has anyone taken part in a swap like this?
