I own this one and the 6430. They are work horses. yes, there are cams with this machine. You may want to have it serviced before extensive use there are some parts that become brittle with age. This machine was produced in the 1970's. My favorite feature is the speed reducer... pull the bobbin filler out and it drops to a lower gear and make it easy for consistent slow speeds. It should be explained in the operators manual.
