Regarding judging, it depends on the judge, her certifications, and the size of the show. In a recent class presented by an NQA certified judge, we were told the front and back binding width should be as close to the same as you can make them. She also stressed that more quilts lose points on binding than anything else. Fullness of the binding, consistency of width, and sewn closed miters were all mentioned as very important.
