Yes it would need some sort of gripper material if used on hard wood or tile floors. I am very very careful with that as my grandmother broke her hip when she slipped on one of those braided type slippery rugs so many years ago and suffered the rest of her life with that. She had to have pins put in and over the years they had to come out and she had to walk with crutches the rest of her life. She was 40 when that happened and lived to be 81.
