But, my sister had several quilts made by her MIL that were filled with cotton batting that had little brown flecks in it, and she found little tiny stains from those flecks after a few years. We couldn't figure ut out until I opened an edge of binding and found flecks right under a stain.
Those flecks in the batting may have been impurities, like the seed hulls, it gets removed now so hopefully that is not a problem that we will have to continue to deal with.
