You baste the edges but it still moves a lot. Your "lips" are smaller so they are easier to handle too.

I think I understand what you're saying. The other pattern doesn't have binding, and the small parts on the "back" don't have batting? (personally I really dislike oven mitts that aren't "heat shielded" on every part - because if they aren't I manage to burn myself somehow :lol: )
