We also make nectar with 4 C water to 1 C white sugar -- boil until sugar is dissolved and let cool. We use it in an older glass one-quart jar with the red flowers on the dispenser. The birds love it and we love watching them. We also have gold finches in the early spring that love to eat thistle seed.
