I agree with you all. I wonder how much fabric the shops will end up eating and it is so sad because it turns more people off to quilting and sewing. I realize that they need to make money, but... the singer store in town sells fabric very reasonably. It is a combination sewing machine, vaccum cleaner store and they have a lot of quilting fabric and notions. I took a lot of classes there. They are in a different town (28 miles one way) but the fabric is nice and a lot of the fabrics are $5.99 and up. A new quilting store opened up in another town ( 28 miles one way) we are between large towns, and I haven't had a chance to visit it yet except for once when I went in only to find it was closing early. The owner was really friendly, but she dragged me over to show me the newest toy-the machine that cuts the squares and shapes. She said it was "only $395) and I nearly laughed out loud. I hope she sells a lot of them.
