How do I tell the difference between a "G" and a "C" on the serial number????? I'm going with C but I'm not sure...
It is more than likely a "G" I have run across a few machines that the "G" looked like a "C" but that was because the die was damaged during the stamping process. Post the serial and I can tell you from it which series it will come under.

The "G" Series was the largest series done by Singer.

OK the serial number looks like a C or a G followed by 8928845. I had to laugh at your comment about the can lid ~ I would have never figured out that's what that is...but now I've gone and looked and it appears to swing rather freely so I guess it'll come off easily...............
