Well we don't have any quilt police here so here goes, if I have to have that long of a strip, I rip it!! and/or you could fold your length of fabric in half and cut it, just make sure it's straight so you don't get a "v" where it's folded! I assume you're using a piece of fabric not more than 3 yds. long, right? I have a large cutting table & am able to layout 1 1/2 yds. length so I only fold it once. I use 2 rulers butting them end to end to make the cut. I hope this helps, clear as mud, right?
